Both the spring and summerthat followed were characterized by an absence of rainfall, the summer being notablefor temperatures that rose, not infrequently, above the seasonal average. It was onlyduring the month of September that some rain arrived enabling the vines to bring thefruit to full ripeness, albeit earlier than the average of the last 10 years.
