BELLAFONTE ESTATE
Bellafonte is the realization of a dream, the desire to interpret in a new way a territory, that of Montefalco, with its vines with ancient roots; a project that has taken shape little by little, finding conviction and substance over time. The name was born almost by chance, breaking down the name of German origin of our family: “Heil” which means well-being, beauty in a broad sense and “Bron”, source.
The vineyard
A great wine is born from a suitable terroir and a very precise production philosophy. A solid foundation of certainties, many small agronomic measures and the humility of wanting to improve every day by following the teachings of nature.
The vines are carefully grown, fertilized with manure from selected stables: an important practice that serves to nourish the plants naturally and improve the structure of the soil. All the work in the vineyard is carried out regularly and with the help of mechanical means that allow the soil and roots to be aerated, without chemical weed killers. The most delicate operations are carried out manually: from pruning to leaf removal, as well as thinning and of course the harvest, when the selected grapes are collected in small crates.
The most well-known and appreciated Umbrian wine for its great intensity, concentration and aging capacity thanks to its high polyphenolic content.
Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG
A wine with a strong personality, very fragrant, always characterised by good acidity and a certain longevity.
Umbria White IGT
Ruby red, agile and tasty on the palate, characterised by good acidity and at the same time supported by a light and pleasant tannic texture.
Montefalco Rosso DOC
A wine of particular freshness, intriguing in its structure and surprising in its evolutionary capacity.
Montefalco Bianco DOC
Freshness and softness embrace a subtle and silky tannic texture, closing with elegance and persistence.
Umbria Red IGT
Established in 2007, Tenuta Bellafonte is one of the newest producers of Montefalco Sagrantino, and is in my mind, one of the finest. - Tom Hyland

In short, thanks to Tenuta Bellafonte, Umbria goes beyond its borders. Above all for a new way of conceiving wine (in particular Sagrantino): not at all rustic, more refined, closer to contemporary taste.
